This was my first chance to the see Royale Lynn. I had first heard about her a few weeks back when I found out that she would be opening up for Seether and Skillet. She was described to me as a country/rock artist. After giving her some listens on Spotify and then covering her show in Omaha, I would say that there was very little, if any country music in her show. Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t disappointed with that fact. I think the more apt description of her would be a former country singer turned metal maniac. She described herself during the show as “metal disco”. I don’t care what you call it, all I know is that I loved it. A definite fresh sound on the music scene. Her voice is great no matter what genre she is singing.

Royale Lynn’s touring band is pretty simple: guitar, bass, and drums. But they are tight and are a great fit for their lead singer. She has Bryan Karijanian on guitar, Joel Andrusick on bass, and Caleb Gambato on drums. These guys play with a lot of energy and are fun to watch. It definitely seemed like they were having a good time up there. I’m not sure how many in the crowd were familiar with Royale Lynn, but I felt by the end of the set she had definitely when she was done. It was a great crowd at the Astro, a rowdy bunch anxious to see the co-headliners of Seether and Skillet. But they definitely warmed up to Royale Lynn by the end.

Royale Lynn does not have a full release yet. She has released eight different singles. The latest being Death Wish. If you listen from the beginning, to me there is a strong country flavor at the start of the start of the releases and transforms to metal by the time we get to Death Wish. I feel we could be seeing the birth of a big star with Royale Lynn. I can’t wait to hear what she comes up with in a full release.
